“Meet the Candidates” Event The Town of Union Citizens Against Fracking (TOUCAF) will host a “meet the candidates” event, moderated by Bob Joseph, host of WNBF News Radio 1290’s Binghamton Now program. Though TOUCAF urges the Town Council to pass a moratorium against industrial gas extraction, or “fracking,” in the town, this event will not focus on that issue or any other issue in particular. Voters are invited to attend and ask questions related to any town matter or business.
About Us We, the Town of Union Citizens Against Fracking (TOUCAF), are a self-funded group of concerned volunteer residents in the Town of Union, the Village of Endicott, the Village of Johnson City, and Endwell. TOUCAF is concerned that this industrial practice can contaminate our water and air, damage our roads, reduce property values, and subsequently depress the town tax base, and irreparably impede on our quality of life and pursuit of happiness in the Town of Union and beyond. We work to provide information about this potentially destructive practice in order to have a ban passed in the Town of Union. We work together to make our cause known, to reach out to other groups who share our vision. Whether you’re ready to lend a hand at one of our activities or have photos or articles to share about a recent event, here’s the place to do it. |
